MSU Swimming Set for Action-Packed Weekend

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State swimming and diving team will compete in back-to-back meets against Evansville (Nov. 30) and Southern Illinois (Dec. 1) in Evansville, Ind. and Carbondale, Ill., respectively. Friday's meet at Evansville will commence diving at 3:30 p.m., with swimming beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Bears will get an early start on Saturday, with competition slated for 11 a.m.

  • Freshman Pawel Krawczyk claimed the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of Week title after a successful performance at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational that included a pair of first-place victories in the 500 and 1650 freestyle, respectively. The honor marked his first at Missouri State.
  • The Bears had a trio of first-place victories at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational from Krawczyk (500/1650 free), Artur Osvath (200 breaststroke), and Josie Pearson (400 IM). Both teams finished fifth among the team rankings.
  • Last year, both the men and women logged victories against Evansville and Southern Illinois, respectively. Artur Osvath tallied five individual wins, while Pearson brought in four decisions between the two meets.
  • Libby Howell and Pearson each broke MSU records at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational. Howell surpassed the top time in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:48.30. Pearson made her mark in the record books in the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.38.
