WICHITA, Kan. – Senior
Melanie Raterman collected not only a new program record, but also tallied 10 of Missouri State's 16 points on Friday (May 12) at the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Track and Field Championship at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium.
Raterman posted a MSU program record distance of 56.10 meters in the hammer throw, collecting four points on her fifth-place distance. She also held the previous record of 53.20 meters set in 2016.
Brittany McPike took 11
th with a distance of 49.61 meters, a new personal record.
In the javelin, Raterman collected a bronze medal and six more points for the Bears with a distance of 44.20 meters.
Georgia Richardson finished ninth in the pole vault with a height of 3.26 meters.
In the 10,000 meter run,
Jessica Allen picked up a bronze medal and tallied six points for MSU with a personal best time of 36:24.85.
Jordyn Capra finished in 39:29.96, good for 17
th overall.
Through four events of the heptathlon,
Chelsey Linton sits in eighth place with 3019 points while
Olivia Ott has tallied 2536 points. Linton finished fourth in the shot put with a personal best distance of 12.10 meters and eighth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.71. Ott posted a distance of 10.08 meters to finish tenth in the shot put.
Senior
Cindy Forde advanced to the finals on Sunday in the 1,500-meter run with a season best time of 4:33.67.
In the 200-meter dash prelims, junior
Marissa Kurtimah won her heat and advanced to the finals with a time of 23.89. Sophomore
Asha Cave tied for eighth and forced a run off after finishing in 24.15 (24.143) seconds. The 200-meter dash final is set for a 2:55 p.m. start on Sunday.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday (May 13) at Cessna Stadium as the heptathlon resumes at 10:30 a.m. Field events will begin at 3 p.m. with the shot put while running events begin at 5 p.m. with the 100-meter hurdle prelims.
