
Track and Field Bears To Compete at OU's John Jacobs Invitational

SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State track and field team heads to Norman, Okla., for the John Jacobs Invitational competing on Friday (April 21) and Saturday (April 22). Action will kick off with the hammer throw on Friday at 5 p.m., while Saturday will start with the javelin at 10:30 a.m. and 4 x 100-meter relay begin races on the track at 12:45 p.m.

Keeping Track of the Bears:
- Junior sprinter Marissa Kurtimah collected her third Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week honors of the 2016-17 season on Tuesday (April 18). Kurtimah posted MVC-leading times in the 100-meters (11.55) and 200-meters dash (23.71) at the Tom Botts Invitational. She collected indoor honors on Dec. 6Â and Jan 24.
- Thrower Brittany McPike is scheduled to have a busy meet, competing in the hammer throw, discus and shot put for the Bears. Chelsey Linton is scheduled for six different events, two jumping, two throwing, as well as 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash.
- The last time the Bears competed at the John Jacobs Invitational, back in 2015, the squad placed fourth out of seven teams. Five current members of the squad collected an individual top-five finish, as well as a relay quartet, in the 2015Â meet.
- Marissa Kurtimah and Shani Adams both have posted MVC-leading times this season, while three others have posted top-five marks. The Bears relay quartets also rank in the top five in the league. Adams posted the best time in the 400-meter hurdles (59.92) and the fifth-best time in the 400-meter run (55.52). Melanie Raterman has the second-best distance in the javelin (44.23m) in the league. Jessica Allen tallied the fifth-best time in the 1,500-meter run (17:03.12) while Holly Pattie-Belleli has the fourth-best 100-meter hurdles mark (13.74).
- Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, enters his 21st season at the helm in 2016-17. In his time at MSU, his indoor and outdoor track and field teams have claimed nine Missouri Valley Conference Championships
