COLUMBIA, Mo. – Junior distance runner
Jessica Allen paced the Missouri State track and field team on the first day of the Tom Botts Invitational, as the squad collected six top-10 finishes and five new personal best times.
Allen finished second in the 5,000-meter with a time of 17:03.12, marking a new personal record and erasing 15.69 seconds from her previous time of 17:18.81 set at the Bulldog Relays (March 17).
In the 1,500-meter run, senior
Cindy Forde posted a new personal best with a fourth-place finish of 4:35.50. Freshman
Grace Breiten took seventh with a time of 4:43.06 while
Megan Nickles finished in a time of 4:48.52 for tenth place. Breiten and Nickles both marked new personal bests in the event.
Sophomore
Sidne' Williamson leaped a distance of 5.46 meters in the long jump to land in fourth place.
In the hammer throw, senior
Melanie Raterman finished fourth with a distance of 52.60 meters. Fellow throwers
Brittany McPike and
Mirissa Massey finished 12
th and 14
th respectively. McPike collected a distance of 40.52 meters while Massey totaled a distance of 36.62 meters.
The final day of the Tom Botts Invitational begins on Saturday with the pole vault at 11:30 a.m., while the 4 x 100-meter relay team will compete at 1:00 p.m. to begin track events.
