STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Missouri State track and field team built off of a strong first day at the Bulldog Relays, hosted by Mississippi State at the Mike Sanders Track Complex, to collect 20 more individual top-10 finishes on Saturday (March 18).
"It was a good weekend," track and field head coach
Ronald Boyce said. "The ladies worked hard, had some very good breakthrough performances and had lots of fun. We had a good spring break."
In the 100-meter dash,
Marissa Kurtimah paced the Bears with a first-place time of 11.72 seconds.
Taryn Smiley,
Asha Cave and
Maya Genard finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectfully. Smiley's time of 12.05 seconds netted her a personal best, as Cave posted a time of 12.09 and Genard crossed the line at 12.24.
Senior
Holly Pattie-Belleli captured first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.78 as
Chicago Bains posted a time of 14.66 seconds, good for seventh place.
Shani Adams reached the podium in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.73. Bains took fourth with a time of 1:06.41 as
Rachel Campbell crossed at 1:09.47.
Daijha Heron leaped a distance of 11.71 meters to capture third place in the triple jump.
The Bears had a strong showing in each of the relay events, including a first place finish in the 4x100 meter relay race. Cave, Kurtimah, Pattie-Belleli and Smiley teamed up to post a time of 46.04.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Bears' quartet of Adams,
Kadisha Francois, Kurtimah and Pattie-Belleli took second place with a time of 3:45.14.

Megan Nickles and
Grace Breiten posted a silver medal time of 9:20.03 in the 4x800-meter relay.
Senior
Melanie Raterman threw the javelin a distance of 39.79 meters for a second place finish.
Mirissa Massey and
Kelli Bowen both collected personal bests in the event with distances of 32.61 meters and 30.60 meters respectfully.
Missouri State will next compete at the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, March 25.
