LINCOLN, Neb. – Two personal bests and one season-best performance in the 200-meter dash highlighted the Missouri State track and field team's final day at the 42
nd Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 4).
Three Bears –
Marissa Kurtimah,
Maya Genard and
Taryn Smiley – turned in impressive times in the 200-meter dash to give Missouri State notable representation in the event. Kurtimah clocked in a season-best time of 24.46 seconds, crossing the line 11
th out of 42 competitors. Genard and Smiley each darted to personal best times of 25.22 seconds and 25.62 seconds, respectively. Smiley's personal best was the second of the weekend for the sophomore, after finishing fifth in her heat of the 60-meter dash preliminaries on Friday.
In the 60-meter dash finals, Kurtimah shed .02 seconds off her preliminary round time to finish sixth in the event. The sprinter finished .10 seconds ahead of one of No. 9 Kentucky's top performers, Precious Hitchcock.
The final event of the meet for the Bears was the 4x400-meter relay, where the quartet of Genard, Kurtimah,
Shani Adams and
Erin Roebuck finished second in their heat with a time of 3:49.28. This mark is the best time turned in by a MSU 4x400-meter relay group this season, by nearly seven seconds.
