NORMAN, Okla. -- Missouri State track & field opened the John Jacobs Invitational at the University of Oklahoma with Friday's lone event, the hammer throw.

Four Bears scored in the meet's first event. Melanie Raterman's 47.76m mark was the best of the first meet, and good for tenth overall in the event finals. Brittany McPike, finished third in her heat with a distance of 42.52m, placing 13th. Jillian Bertz (39.89m) and Mirissa Massey (36.03) each set new personal bests to place 17th and 18th, respectively.

The meet continues on Saturday morning with the javelin at 10:00 a.m., with the long jump, high jump, pole vault, discus throw, triple jump, and shot put following throughout the day.

On the track, Missouri State's first event will be 4x100 meter relay at 12:45 p.m. MSU has entered two relay teams into the event's one heat. The day's final event, the 4x400m relay will also feature two Missouri State entries. The Bears will look to improve on the Missouri Valley Conference's top time, which they set in last week's John McDonnell Invitational.
