LINCOLN, Neb. - The Missouri State track and field team concluded a two-day meet at the University of Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. The Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational featured a very stacked field, including five Big Ten schools: Illinois (men), Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, and Minnesota (women). Four Big 12 teams (Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State), as well as USC from the Pac-12 and Alabama and Auburn from the SEC, also competed.
The 600-meter run featured two stellar Missouri State performances. Shani Adams set a personal-record with her 1:32.26 to place fifth, while Rosalie Pringle ran her collegiate best, 1:33.87, to place sixth in her heat.
The Bears ran five in the 200-meter dash. Shavonne Husbands led the way, clocking in at 24.98. Both Marissa Kurtimah (25.25) and Kadisha Francois (25.51) ran PR races, while Chelsey Borders (25.57) and Chelsie Horton (26.33) rounded out the field.
The relay team ran a strong 4x400m relay, placing in third just behind Kansas and Maryland. The Bears were comprised of Oarabile Babolayi, Adams, Pringle, and Francois, and ran the relay in 3:46.67.
In the field events, Robiann Broomfield placed eighth with her 11.99m triple jump, while Betsy Borgsmiller reached a height of 1.63m in the high jump to finish 16th.
The Bears will compete again this coming Saturday at the Purdue Fred Wilt Invitational on Feb. 14.
