COLUMBIA, Mo. - Part of Missouri State's track and field team participated in the Tiger Invitational, while the other portion of the squad was competing at the University of Nebraska.
"It was a lot smaller than last time we were there, said head cross country coach Jordan Fife. "For the group we brought, there were good situations. We got a few PRs and we were competitive throughout."
Both Bears competing in the 3000m run set new indoor personal-best times. Jessica Allen placed third in the event with her PR of 10:35.84, while Kaitlyn Cravens added a career-best 11:18.12 to finish 10th.
In the mile, Savannah Beaver ran a career-best 5:16.58 to place seventh, while Oliviah Sloan ran a 5:23.24 mile to finish ninth.
The 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash featured the same three participants for Missouri State in Erin Roebuck, Rachel Campbell, and Miche-Ala Woods. Roebuck led MSU in both events, placing second in the 400m with a time of 58.89 and sixth in the 200m with her 26.20. Campbell set PRs in both events with her 27.39 in the 200-meter and her 1:02.14 in the 400-meter. Woods placed 13th in each event with her 27.39 and 1:02.14, respectively.
Merica Moncherry joined the three aforementioned sprinters to place second in the 4x400m relay. The MSU team finished in 4:03.50, just behind UMKC.
Moncherry also qualified for the 60-meter dash finals after running a 7.94 and finishing in sixth in the prelims. Her 8.04 in the finals was eighth fastest.
In the 800-meter run, Tenaly Smith placed 10th with her 2:21.30, just ahead of Cindy Forde's 2:23.14
The shorthanded Bears finished fifth of six in the one-day meet. The remaining Bears are competing in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational through Saturday. MSU will next compete at the Purdue Fred Wilt Invitational next weekend on Feb. 14.
