Track Bears Claim 4x400 Relay Victory at Arkansas Open

Fayetteville, Ark. - In a late addition to the indoor schedule, Missouri State track and field competed in the Arkansas Open on Saturday. The Bears only brought a small group to the meet, but of the six Bears, five set either personal or season bests.

The 1600m relay team of Althia Maximilien, Oarabile Babolayi, Shani Adams, and Rosalie Pringle ran a 3:39.98, topping their previous season best by nearly three seconds, and improving on the fastest MVC 4x400m time this season. Hosts Arkansas placed second in the event, with a time of 3:42.87.

In the 400m Run, Maximilien ran her season-best, 55.47, to finish fifth. Adams ran 55.68 for a PR and sixth-place finish, while Pringle finished just six-hundredths of a second behind her teammate for a new PR at 55.74 and a seventh-place finish.

Shavonne Husbands ran the fastest 200m of any Bear this season, with her 24.60, to finish fourth in the event. Babolayi improved on her fastest career time to place eighth at 25.20. Chelsey Borders placed 11th after finishing in 55.74.

Borders was the lone MSU competitor in the 60-meter dash. The senior earned fourth with a time of 7.69.

Babolayi ran in the 60m hurdles as well. She added a fourth place finish after clocking in at 8.68.

Missouri State will compete next in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in held in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The MVC meet will begin on Feb. 28.
