MSU Wins 4x400, 600 Meter in Opening Track Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Missouri State track & field team set three individual personal bests in the Arkansas Invitational at Randall Tyson Track Center Friday.

Missouri State Missouri State capped off the evening at the first meet of the 2015 indoor season with a second and half victory in the 4x400 meter relay. Led by Shani Adams, Althia Maximilien, Oarabile Babolayi, and Rosalie Pringle, the Bears won the race with a time of 3:45.20. Two other Missouri State relay teams finished seventh (Erin Roebuck, Kadisha Francois, Shavonne Husbands, and Chelsie Horton) and ninth ( Holly Pattie-Belleli, Merica Moncherry, Miche-Ala Woods, and Rachel Campbell) at the conclusion of the three-heat event.

MSU claimed the top two spots in the 600 meter finals. Shani Adams won the event in 1:33.80, with Rosalie Pringle finishing in second at 1:34.26.

"It was a good early season contest for us, we competed hard," said director of track & field and cross country Ronald Boyce. "After a break you want to knock the rust off and we did that."

Three Bears placed in the top four in the triple jump. Robiann Broomfield was the runner-up after jumping 11.78m. Haley Scott placed third at 11.53m and Daijha Heron's finished fourth after jumping 11.41m.

Missouri State benefited from a fast 60 meter hurdles prelims, with two Bears setting personal records and six finishing in the top twelve. Oarabile Babolayi (8.80), and Holly Pattie-Belleli (9.11) each posted their collegiate bests in the prelims. Babolayi (8.86) placed fifth and Pattie-Belleli (9.15) placed sixth in the event finals.

Sophomore Erin Roebuck set a career best time of 58.10 to finish fifth in the 400 meter dash.

The freshman class made a significant impact in their first collegiate meet for the maroon and white.

It is important because we have a big freshman class," said Boyce. "They did perform well, but we must return now and prepare for Friday."

The meet did not feature team scoring.

Missouri State will next compete in one week in Columbia, Mo., at the Missouri Invitation on Jan. 16.
