AUSTIN, Texas - Missouri State sprinter Shavonne Husbands (Fr., St. Philip, Barbados) placed 37th in first-round competition of the 200-meter dash here Friday (May 24) at the NCAA Track and Field West Regional.

Husbands' time of 24.47 seconds wasn't fast enough to qualify her for the next round. The 200-meter competition was delayed for about three hours after lightning and rain in Austin forced start times to be pushed back.

The Bears will wrap up NCAA prelims competition tomorrow. Robiann Broomfield (Fr., Clarendon, Jamaica) and Kimsue Grant (Sr., Arlington, Va.) will look to advance in the triple jump at 1:30 p.m. Missouri State's 4x100-meter relay squad of Husbands, Grant, Althia Maximilien and Pernell Joseph will follow with their competition at 6 p.m.
