Baseball Falls to Central Arkansas in 10 Innings, 4-3

Central Arkansas first baseman Josh Huffman hit an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning that held on for the winning run as UCA defeated the Missouri State baseball team by a 4-3 score Wednesday afternoon at Hammons Field.

MSU fell to 3-6 on the season and had its 10-game home winning streak snapped in the process. UCA improved to 6-3.

After leading 1-0 early, Missouri State gave up two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to trail 3-1. Curt Courtwright scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth and Aaron Conway’s two-out single tied the score at 3-3 after seven innings, but the offense could do no more after that and was limited to four hits in the game.

Missouri State left several scoring opportunities on the table, coming up scoreless with a runner on third and no outs in the third and runners on second and third with one out in the eighth.

Reliever Cody Aycock struck out a career-best seven over 3.2 innings of one-hit relief. Conway had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense.

MSU stole five bases on the afternoon after swiping just two in the season’s first seven games.

Missouri State continues its six-game homestand Friday at 3 p.m. with the first of a three-game set against North Dakota (0-6).
