Missouri State senior third baseman
Brayden Drake has been selected as this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Drake got the school’s hit streak record all to himself on Tuesday and extended it to 29 games by the end of the week after hitting .611 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in five Missouri State victories. The Webb City native added two doubles for a 1.222 slugging percentage, reached base two-thirds of the time and scored seven runs.
Drake had multiple RBIs in all five games and at least two hits in four contests. He went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs Tuesday against SEMO and had another two-hit, three-RBI game Wednesday versus the Redhawks.
On Friday against Bradley, Drake had three hits, including a double and a homer, and four RBIs. He doubled and drove in two runs on Saturday, then went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored on Sunday.
