The Missouri State track and field team turned in some personal-best times at this weekend's Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, a meet that featured over 100 NCAA Division I teams. Senior Kim Carter had the top finish for the Bears, placing ninth in the long jump, marking a distance of 18-11.25.

Freshman Kristin Wolkey turned in a nearly ten second personal best time in the one mile, running a time of 4:59.92 to place 23rd overall. Wolkey stopped the clock at 2:18.06 in the 800-meter run and finished second in her heat and 49th overall. She also was the lead leg in MSU's distance medley relay, running the 1200-meters in 3:35. Lindsey Billington, Renee Berry and Chloe Key made up the rest of the team and finished 12th in a final time of 12:04.57.

Freshman Auvia Miller ran a personal-best time in the 5,000-meter run to place 41st in a time of 18:18.34. Ashley Harris jumped a season-best 38-7.5 in the triple jump, finishing 25th. Sophomore Jamie Vest ran a nine-scond personal best in the 3,000-meter run, placing 27th in 10:13.01. Alexandria Oembler also recorded a personal-best time at the meet, finishing 66th in 25.65.

Freshman standout Leander Ernest was on pace for an NCAA qualifying mark in the 800-meter run and held a significant lead but collided with an athlete from another school who walked onto the track while they were not competing. Ernest was unable to finish the race.

The Bears will be back on the track in two weeks for the MVC Indoor Track and Field Championship on Feb. 23-24, in Carbondale, Ill.
