Senior swimmer Lauren Pavel closed out her athletic career with a bang, winning five gold medals and setting five new MVC and MSU records at the MVC Swimming and Diving Championships. Named the 2016-17 MVC Swimmer of the Year, Pavel broke the Missouri State and Missouri Valley record in the 200-yard individual medley, as well as the 100 and 200 breaststroke – meeting NCAA “B” standards in each event. Pavel swam a remarkable time of 1:59.89 in the 200 IM, 1:01.33 in the 100 breast and a time of 2:12.43 in the 200 breast. The captain was also a part of the record-breaking 200 and 400 medley relay teams, which set two new Missouri State and Missouri Valley records.
