Freshman Antonio Thomas had a record-breaking weekend at the Shamrock Invitational, hosted at the campus of Notre Dame. The Fayetteville, Ark., native earned his second 1650-yard freestyle victory of the season with a time of 15:05.16 in the event – just one second shy of his personal best. Breaking down the splits, the freshman broke his own school record in the 1000yd free, setting a new record of 9:05.39 in the mile event. Along with breaking the school record, Thomas broke the Rolfs Aquatic Center pool record in the 1650yd free by over 16 seconds. The newcomer leads the Mid-American Conference in the 500, 1000 and 1650yd free and ranks No. 22 in the 1000yd free as well as No. 23 in the 1650yd free on the national stage.
