Reedy Wins MVC Title in Javelin

May 17, 2025

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Reagan Reedy cemented herself in Missouri Valley Conference history with a win in javelin on the first day of the MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday.

On her first throw, Reedy made an attempt of 45.22 meters or approximately 148.4 feet. That was all the Rolla, Mo. native needed to secure gold for herself and 10 points for the Bears. Reedy is the first Bear to win an event at the outdoor championship since Rochelle Etienne won gold in javelin at the 2022 meet.

MoState was strong in javelin with freshman Tommi Martin finishing in fourth place with an attempt of 42.27 meters and senior Jaide Rose finishing in fifth with an attempt of 41.09 meters.

Javelin was not the only field event in which the Bears earned points. Freshman Jenna Belcher finished sixth in the long jump with an attempt of 5.61 meters.

Missouri State closed out the day with another podium finish. Ella Cronhardt finished third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:23.55. Adrien Martens finished in eighth with a time of 10:46.37.

After the first four events of the heptathlon, Kamdyn Moody is on track for a podium finish of her own. The senior from Justin, Texas has 2,976 points with only the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run to go.

There will be plenty of maroon and white on day two of the championship with Bears qualifying in five semifinal events. Olivia Rogers will compete in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash finals while BreAna Garrett and Whitney Farrington will take on the 400-meter dash finals. Alex Adams will compete in the 800-meter run finals and Meghan Halstead and Mirabella Redman will compete in the 400-meter hurdles.

After one day of competition, Missouri State is tied for third place with Illinois State as both teams have 29 points. Northern Iowa sits in second place with 1 points and Indiana State leads the pack with 66.5 points.

The heptathlon will continue at 9:00 a.m. and the rest of the field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the high jump. Track events will commence at 1:25 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay.
