WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Missouri State track and field wrapped up day one of the weekend at the Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri on Friday.
Â
The Bears only sent a select few athletes to participate in the meet since most of the team is heading to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Arkansas Spring Invitational on Saturday. With only 16 Bears in six events in the meet, MoState did not have many opportunities to earn points and rise through the team standings. The team ended the day in 16
th place with 11.5 points.
Â
Most of those points came courtesy of
Tabitha Fox's first place finish in the 5000-meter run. The sophomore finished with a time of 17:09.47, eclipsing her previous personal best by a whopping 31 seconds.
Â
Jordan Drum accounted for the rest of the points with an eight-place finish in the pole vault with an attempt of 3.30m.
Â
"A portion of our field group got us started with some nice marks and the 5k group brought it home with some very impressive times," head coach
Jordan Fife said. " They took advantage of a really good opportunity and we walked away with eight lifetime bests."
Â
The Bears will continue competition tomorrow with a trip to Arkansas. Live results will be available, and the meet will be shown on SECN+ beginning at 1:00 p.m.
