SPRINGFIELD -Â The Missouri State men's and women's swimming & diving teams travel to Indiana to compete in the House of Champions Invitational, a three-day meet starting on Nov. 20. Each day of competition begins at 9:00 a.m. at the IU Natatorium.
Bear Splashes (Women)
- The women's team dominated Omaha in the Bears' latest meet, with a 179-118 scoreline.
Standout performances against Omaha included:
- Senior Lana Janson was awarded MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 4 after she won the 100-yard freestyle with the leading time in the MVC (50.57). She also won the 200-yard freestyle with the second-fastest time in the MVC (1:49.12).
- In the 200-yard medley, junior Olivia Sala, Janson, sophomore Addie Ludbrook, and junior Makenzie Kurre won with a time of 1:42.94.
- In the 100-yard butterfly, sophomore Lillie Freulon (54.29) edged past Ludbrook (55.32) to secure victory.
- Sala was again victorious in the 400-yard individual medley (4:24.34).
- Junior Lindsey Hervey secured a victory in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.90).
- The Bears picked up an impressive win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Janson, junior Cameryn Johnson, Kurre and Ludbrook won with a time of 1:34.33.
- On the diving board, in the one-meter competition, freshman transfer Delaney Nickles won with a score of 263.35. In the three-meter competition, Nickles finished second with 276.95 points.Â
- Junior Evie Kolb won her first collegiate race in the 1650-yard freestyle with a dominant time of 17:04.60.
- In the 100-yard freestyle, Janson won with a time of 50.57 just ahead of Kurre (50.70).
- Freulon took out the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.82) just ahead of Ludbrook (2:04.18) to secure first and second place for the Bears.
- The Bears wrapped up the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Janson, freshmen Aleca Howard and Paige Corbin, and Kurre won comfortably with a time of 3:25.40.
- Missouri State women's swimming & diving has won 20 of the last 23 Missouri Valley Conference championships and looks to return to the top spot this season after a third-place finish in 2025.Â
Bear Splashes (Men)
- The men's team beat Omaha in a commanding third straight meet victory with a 182.5-109.5 scoreline.
Standout performances against the Tigers included:
- Senior Luigi Maciel da Silva received the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week award on Nov. 4 after he won the 100-yard breaststroke with the leading time in the MVC. He also won the 200-yard breaststroke with yet again the leading time in the MVC.Â
- Sophomore Carter Crook, Da Silva, sophomore Jack Ailshire and junior Matvei Chesakov secured the win in the 200 medley relay (1:29.08).
- Junior Anderson Brown took the top spot in the 400-yard individual medley (3:57.12) just ahead of sophomore Mate Miszlai who was second (3:58.33) and junior Tomas Chocholaty (4:03.85) who finished in third.
- Freshman Zach Mendez won the 200-yard freestyle (1:37.04).
- In the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Gonzolo Ruiz won with a time of 49.18.
- Sophomore Ilias El Fallaki won the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.89).
- On the diving board, in the three-meter competition senior Logan Schelfaut came in second with 297.10 points. In the one-meter dive, Schelfaut also finished second with 297.10 points.
- In the 1650-yard freestyle, El Fallaki won (15:54.58) scraping past Chocholaty 15:56.39.
- Ruiz secured a win in the 200-yard backstroke (1:45.98), ahead of Miszlai (1:48.69) and senior Alex Boutin (1:49.22) for a tightly contested Bears podium finish.
- Brown won the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.24) with freshman Kayden Hedrick (1:48.42) in second place.
- The Bears finished off the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Chesakov, senior Chris Bedsole, Mendez and Miszlai won with a time of 2:58.70.
- Missouri State men's swimming & diving is also looking to improve on a third-place finish at the MVC Championship in February. The team has won 21 conference championships in its history, including five MVC championships.Â
House of Champions Invitational Information    Â
·      Teams represented are Ball State, Lewis, Milwaukee, Illinois Chicago, Missouri State, Lynn, Northern Kentucky, Saint Louis, Southern Indiana, Montevallo, Butler, and Little Rock.
·     The meet will be run as eight swimming sessions. All individual swimming events are preliminary/final, (excluding the 1650 free and relays) with circle seeding for preliminaries.
·     There is no limit to the number of divers per team.
Head Coach Dave Collins
- Missouri State swimming & diving head coach Dave Collins enters his 15th season and will look for his 13th women's conference championship and fourth men's league title. He has been named MVC Swimming Coach of the Year eight times. He was also a five-time Mid-American Conference Swimming Coach of the Year.
