SPRINGFIELDÂ - The Missouri State men's and women's swimming & diving teams host Ouachita Baptist (M) and Indiana State (W) on Friday Oct. 17 in a two-day meet. Friday's competition begins at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday's competition begins at 10 a.m. at Hammons Student Center Pool.
Head Coach
Dave Collins is looking forward to the challenge, "We are excited to be back in action at home this weekend against Indiana State and OBU. We have trained well since our meet with Southern Illinois and will hopefully see some improvement in how we attack our races. We are hoping for another really good crowd to come out and support our group."

Bear Splashes (Women)
- The women's team fell to the Southern Illinois Salukis in the Bears' home opener, with a 260.5-181.5 scoreline.
Standout performances against SIU included:
-  Freshman Aleca Howard won her very first collegiate race in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.77).
- Junior Lindsey Hervey took out the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.35).
- Fellow junior Claire Culberson won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:37.93).
- Classmate Makenzie Kurre took out the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.43).
- On the diving board, freshman transfer Delaney Nickles dominated in the three-meter dive with a score of 247.50. In the one-meter competition, junior Maggie Arceneaux scored 247.88 points, edging past Nickles who scored 240.00.
- Missouri State women's swimming & diving has won 20 of the last 23 Missouri Valley Conference championships and looks to return to the top spot this season after a third-place finish in 2025.
Bear Splashes (Men)
- The men's team beat Southern Illinois Salukis in the Bears' home opener, with a 275-171 scoreline.
Standout performances against SIU included:
- Senior Storm Opdahl sweeping all of the diving competitions. In the one-meter diving competition, he won convincingly with a score of 303.15 and in the three-meter dive, took the victory with 310.88 points. This performance earned him the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Diver of the Week award on Oct. 8. The award was the first of Opdahl's career and the first weekly conference honor for a MoState diver since March 2021.Â
- Freshman Zach Mendez won the 200- (1:39.68), 500- (4:34.66), and 1000- (9:29.76) yard freestyle competitions.
- Sophomore transfer Ilias El Fallaki took the 1000-yard freestyle (9:46.79) in his first race as a Bear.
- In the 200-yard medley relay, sophomore Carter Crook, freshman Kiefer Roemer, sophomore Jack Ailshire, and senior Lucas Chadwell won with a time of 1:30.29. Ailshire also took out the 100-yard butterfly (49.81), and Roemer got his first win as a Bear in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.69).
- Missouri State men's swimming & diving is also looking to improve on a third-place finish at the MVC Championship in February. The team has won 21 conference championships in its history, including five MVC championships.

Head Coach Dave Collins
- Missouri State swimming & diving head coach Dave Collins enters his 15th season and will look for his 13th women's conference championship and fourth men's league title. He has been named MVC Swimming Coach of the Year eight times. He was also a five-time Mid-American Conference Swimming Coach of the Year.
