Pannier in the Hunt, Bears Sixth Thru 36 at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. -- Missouri State's Kiser Pannier is just a stroke out of the lead and the Bears' women's golf team is sixth in the team standings with 18 holes to play at the Lady Red Wolves Classic at Sage Meadows Golf Club.

The senior from Sedalia, Mo. carded 11 birdies on the way to shooting 70-69--139, five-under-par, in Monday's (Oct. 13) 36 holes. Pannier rebounded from a double bogey on her first hole of the day to birdie her second hole and close the morning round with three consecutive birdies. She also tallied six birdies in her second round, including three in a row on the back nine to post her 69.

Teamwise, the Bears were fourth in the 17-team field after posting 290 in the morning round, but slipped two spots with 291 in the afternoon for their 581 total. ULM holds a sizable lead in the team race after shooting 559, with Little Rock second at 571 and Memphis third with 574. Morehead State is fourth with 576, followed by West Georgia (578), the Bears, Troy, UAB and Arkansas State tied for seventh (589), and Samford rounding out the top 10 (591).

Individually for MSU, junior Coyee Zhang carded 71-76--147 and is tied for 33rd, a shot ahead of freshman Chloe Bolte, who had a pair of 74's for 148. Junior Tierney Baumstark birdied four of her last five holes to shoot even-par 72 in the second round after opening with a 78 and sits in a tie for 53rd with a 150 total. Junior Kyleigh Pfitzner tallied 75-76--151 and is tied for 61st.

Sophomore Siena Minor leads a threesome of Bears playing as individuals, shooting 79-70--149, with Marlee Edgeman at 74-77--151 and freshman Katelyn Wilkie carding 79-79--158.

Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
