Women's Golf Splits on First Day of Spring-Opening Match Play

February 16, 2026

Day One Results

GULFPORT, Miss. -- The Missouri State women's golf squad opened its 2026 spring season Monday (Feb. 16) by splitting a pair of matches at the Great River Cup at Windance Country Club.

The Bears, seeded fifth in the eight-team field, knocked off fourth-seed James Madison in the opening round, 3-2. Junior Tierney Baumstark posted a lopsided 7&6 win in her match and freshman Chloe Bolte parred her last hole in a tied match to post a win and clinch the team victory for MoState. Coyee Zhang nabbed the Bears other point with a 2&1 decision.

MSU ran into a buzzsaw in the afternoon, dropping a 4-1 decision to top-seeded ULM. The Bears lone point came from senior Kiser Pannier, who rang up a 5&4 win. Baumstark dropped a narrow 1 up decision despite shooting one-under-par, and Zhang lost 2&1 despite carding even par.

MoState will square off against third-seed Central Arkansas in the third-place match at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
