DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Missouri State women's golf team posted its second consecutive runner-up finish Tuesday (Sept. 29), placing second in the 13-team field at the Diane Thomason/Hawkeye Invitational. The Bears tallied 290-299-302--891 in three trips around Davenport Country Club, a top-100 course nationally, a week after also finishing second at Missouri.
Sophomore Chloe Bolte and senior Tierney Baumstark posted top-10 finishes to lead the way for MSU. Bolte carded 72-75-72--219 to finish sixth, while Baumstark tied for eighth after shooting 72-75-75--222. Freshman Clementina Castano posted 76-72-79--227, one better than senior Kyleigh Pfitzner and freshman Josey Roberts, who tied for 19th. Pfitzner shot 70-77-81 while Roberts had 77-74-77. Senior Coyee Zhang tied for 27th with 77-77-76--230.
Host Iowa took the team championship with 878, followed by the Bears, with St. Thomas (894), Bowling Green (902) and North Dakota State (911) rounding out the top five.
The Bears are idle next week before hosting the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Oct. 11-12.
