Track and Field Bears Finish Day One of MVC Meet

CHICAGO – Two Missouri State representatives have advanced to the finals in their events after the opening day of the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships here Sunday.
 
The Bears are tied with Valparaiso for 10th through five scored events.
 
Individually, Olivia Rogers (Fr., Dearborn, Mo.) advanced to the finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.61 seconds. Rogers was .04 seconds away from tying her personal record.
 
Likewise, Whitney Farrington (Lee's Summit, Mo.) qualified for the 400-meter dash finals an eighth-place finish in the prelims with and a time of 57.42.
 
Victory Ifah finished just behind Farrington for a personal record of 57.44. Rogers also set a new personal record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.99 and a 13th place finish.
 
"It was nice to get Olivia in the final in the 60-meter as a freshman and Whitney in the 400-meter," head coach Jordan Fife said. "We have some high scoring opportunities in the high jump, triple jump and 4x400 as well that we're looking forward to."
 
Competition will resume tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. in Chicago. The Bears' first event of the day will be the triple jump which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. The meet will be shown on ESPN+.
