FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In a day marked by competitive performance and lifetime bests, the Missouri State track and field team wrapped up its regular-season slate here Friday evening, participating in the Arkansas Twilight. Â
"It was a great evening for a track and field meet," said head coach Jordan Fife. "We took advantage of some nice conditions across multiple events. I think this was a nice jumpstart to conference week."Â
Leading the charge was Jaide Rose, who set a lifetime best in the javelin throw earning a second-place finish in the process. The mark of 44.49 meters smashed her old record of 43.95 set earlier this season at the first meet hosted by the University of Arkansas. Cheyenne White placed fourth with a strong performance in the event, throwing a mark of 40.04 meters. Â
DaeLin Switzer earned a lifetime best in the high jump for the Bears, jumping to a height of 1.65 meters. The freshman's .02-meter improvement earned her second place. Â
On the track, the Bears kicked off their day with additional personal-best performances in the 3,000-meter run. Shelby Palmer raced a time of 9:58.17, finishing fifth, while Margo Nea finished seventh (10:47.57).Â
In the 100-meter dash, Calandra Henry, Charity Obazughamwen and Nakaja Weaver made strides for the Bears as well, with the trio clocking a combination of personal and season bests. Racing a time of 11.71 seconds, Henry finished fourth in the competitive field, beating her former mark of 11.76 which she recorded earlier this season. Obazughamwen (12.25) finished in eighth while Weaver raced her best time of the season (12.44). Â
"There's quite a list of big breakthroughs from the team today. Jaide had a huge throw in the javelin," said Fife. "Shelby ran a massive lifetime best in the 3,000-meter, Calandra and Charity ran season bests in the 100-meter."Â
MSU also found success in the long and short hurdles, with all four competitors improving on their times. In the 100-meter hurdles, Rochelle Etienne, DaeLin Switzer and Kate Anderson finished sixth-seventh-eighth with times of 14.55, 14.81 and 15.59 seconds, respectively. In the 400-meter hurdles, Meghan Halstead finished fourth with a time of 1:05.53.Â
