BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A week after racing to a lifetime best in the 60-meter dash, Missouri State's Madison Meredith will represent the Bears at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships here, March 11-12. Â
"I am extremely excited to be able to compete at Nationals," said Meredith. "MSU hasn't had a sprinter compete at this meet since 2013 and I'm happy to get to represent Missouri State at a National level among some of the best in the country."Â Â Â Â Â
Meredith's qualifying time of 7.23 seconds came in the finals of the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Monday, Feb. 28, moving her up to 13th in the nation in the event. Not only was the mark a lifetime best, but it gave her the MVC event title in addition to the new school and conference championship records.  Â
The sprinter from Detroit, Mich., has experienced success all season long, earning medals in every event she has competed in including six first-place finishes. Meredith also broke her own school record in the 60-meter three times over the course of the indoor season.  Â
"From the beginning, I knew what I was capable of doing. I set my goals in the beginning of the year with Coach Taryn (Smiley) and she saw my vision as well," continued Meredith. "I trusted her throughout this whole process and got the results I wanted every time I stepped foot on the track. I have been more focused than ever this year and it's showed." Â
The NCAA Indoor Championships will take place at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Meredith will run in the 60-meter semifinals against 15 other athletes on Friday at 7:15 p.m.Â
