Swimming and Diving Gears Up for Dual, Tri-Dual in Terre Haute

SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State swimming and diving continues its road action Friday at 6 p.m. in Terre Haute, Ind. for two-day duals between the men's and women's programs. The men's club will battle Miami (Ohio) in a regular dual, while the women's squad will take on Miami and Indiana State in a tri-dual.

The Missouri State men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Terre Haute, Ind. this weekend to compete in two-day duals beginning Friday at 6 p.m. The men's team faces Miami in a regular dual format, while the women's squad battles the Redhawks and Indiana State in a tri-dual format.

Bear Splashes (Women)

In the dual versus Lindenwood on Oct. 7, MSU had a first-place finisher in all but one swimming event (100 Yard Backstroke). The Bears defeated the Lions, 164-77.
In the dual versus Drury, MoState registered a first-place finisher in all but three swimming events (50 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard Backstroke, 400 Freestyle Relay). MSU topped the Panthers, 157-80.
In the Missouri Valley Conference Showcase, the women's squad finished second out of four teams at the south site. The Bears recorded season-best times in 13 events over the span of the two-day meet.
Ulyana Zubina, Jordan Wenner, Anna Lucas, Lily Despain, Vera Margula, Kelly Sego, Yuliya Zubina, Cabrini Johnson, Samantha Roemer, Payton Smith and Mai Ortega Bonilla all hold top season swimming times for the Bears.
Both of Courtney Stanbury's best diving scores on the season came during the Drury dual on Oct. 14 (one-meter and three-meter diving).
Sego holds both backstroke season-high times for MSU (100-yard and 200-yard).
In individual events, Roemer leads all Bears with five first-place finishes on the season.
The women's squad has competed in eight relays on the season. The Bears have had a first-place team in seven out of those eight relays.

Bear Splashes (Men)

In the dual versus Lindenwood on Oct. 7, MSU had first-place finishers in six events. The Bears defeated the Lions, 128-115.
In the dual versus Drury, MSU had first-place finishers in two events, with Dylan Moffatt capturing the 1000 Yard Freestyle and Brunno Suzuki taking the 200 Yard Freestyle. The Bears fell to the Panthers, 136-107.
In the MVC Showcase, the men's team defeated Evansville, 240.50-108.50, and fell to SIU, 222-128.

Lucas Chadwell, Brunno Suzuki, Pawel Krawczyk, Dylan Moffatt, Robbie Hill, Alex Boutin, Nick Schuster and Tyler Lewis all hold top season swimming times for the Bears.

Logan Schelfaut holds the season-best score in the one-meter diving competition for the Bears, while Storm Opdahl holds the season-best score in the three-meter diving competition.
Schuster holds the MSU season-best times in both breaststroke events (100-yard and 200-yard), while Krawczyk holds the both best times in both butterfly events (100-yard and 200-yard) for the Bears.
In individual events, Moffatt leads all Bears with five first-place finishes on the season.
Through three meets, the following men have earned first place in at least one event (excluding relays): Moffatt, Suzuki, Robbie Hill and Krawczyk.

Looking Ahead

After competing in Terre Haute, both MSU clubs will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Invitational, a three-day event spanning from Nov. 16-18.
