DaeLin SwitzerMadison MeredithEdna Dar and Shelby Palmer represented the Bears with first place finishes at the annual meet hosted by Kansas State University.

"It was great to finally get out there and compete against some other teams," said head coach Jordan Fife. "I was proud of their effort today. There were definitely some nerves, but that's to be expected. We had a lot of new faces make their MSU debut and we now have a good idea of where we are and what we need to keep working on."

In the high jump, Switzer captured her first-ever title for MSU, as the freshman recorded a jump of 1.68 meters to earn a first-place finish. Rachel Lacey earned a top-three finish in the event as well, recording a mark of 1.48 meters to land her in third place. Three Bears also earned top finishes in the long jump, with Brooke Jenkins, Tamia Rayford and Nakaja Weaver coming in second through fourth with jumps of 5.46 meters, 5.29 meters and 5.17 meters, respectively.

Meredith raced to two titles on the day, with her first victory coming in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.40. The senior also raced to a first-place finish in the 200-meter run in her season debut, finishing with a time of 25.50 seconds. Wynter Ramos (25.99), Charity Obazughanmwen (26.16), Victory Ifah (27.25) and Hayden Gray (27.85) finished in succession behind Meredith, capturing the rest of the event's top five places.

The MSU distance group also took home a pair of titles with Dar kicking off her season with a school record time of 2:55.02 in the 1,000-meter run. Teammate Sierra Williams was close behind, as she finished in third place for the Bears in the event (2:57.35).

Palmer earned a first-place finish for MSU in the 3,000-meter run, racing to the win with a time of 10:39.99. Adyson Delaney, Alex Hamre and Lillie Kaempfe rounded out the top five, finishing in third, fourth and fifth place for MSU.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay team of Obazughanmwen, Dar, Ifah and Ramos closed out the meet with a third-place finish on a 4:03.50 pace, while the team made up of Meghan Halstead, Williams, O'Shayla Muldrow and Rayford finished in fourth with a time of 4:10.22.

"Madi and DaeLin had impressive openers in the 60-meter and high jump, and Edna's school record in the 1,000-meter was another highlight, especially after a really solid opener for her in the mile," said Fife. "A week from now we will be even more ready to go out there and compete."

Missouri State will be back on the track on Friday, Jan. 28 at the Jayhawk Invitational hosted by the University of Kansas.
