Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A trio of scores in the first half by No. 7 Arkansas broke the game open as the Razorbacks defeated the Bears 7-0, in MSU's first women's soccer match of the spring.
Arkansas (10-2) got on the board in the 14th minute as Reagan Swindall found the back of the net on a header. Arkansas' Anna Podojil (36') and Ainsley Jeffrey (43') added goals to give the Razorbacks a 3-0 lead going into intermission.
The veteran Arkansas squad which features two-time first-team All-SEC selections in Parker Goines and Podojil added four more goals in the second half. Goines got the Razorback scoring started in the second half with a goal in the 55th minute. Podojil (80'), Ava Tankersley (70'), and Tyler Runnels (75') also chipped in goals ?to close out the Razorbacks offensive assault.
"All 18 players saw some action today," Missouri State head coach Rob Brewer said. "We started the game well but suffered a couple of letdowns towards the end of the first half.
Missouri State's (1-3-1) night was highlighted by six saves from freshman goalkeeper Katherine Montgomery. Offensively, the Bears took just three shots, landing all of them on goal. Anna Durnin, Emma Skornia and Kara Privitera each sent shots toward the goal, but Razorback goalkeeper Hannah Warner corralled all three scoring threats to preserve the clean sheet for the home squad.
"Arkansas is going to be one of the top teams in the country and our younger players will improve. We hope to show growth from one match to the next," Brewer added.
The Bears return to Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium for their MVC opener this Sunday against Loyola at 1 p.m. Admission for the match is free.
