Six Track and Field Athletes Capture MVC Scholar-Athlete Honors

ST. LOUIS – Six Missouri State student-athletes received recognition from the Missouri Valley Conference for their academic and athletic excellence, the league office announced Wednesday, May 22. Over 130 student-athletes were named to this year's MVC Scholar-Athlete team.

Madeline Saville (3.99 GPA, Elementary Education, Jr.) finished eighth in the 800-meter dash in both the indoor and outdoor championships.

Erica Wollmering (3.89 GPA, Administrative Management, So.) finished in seventh place in the outdoor 1,500-meter to earn scholar athlete respects.

Olivia Ott (3.74 GPA, Dietetics, Sr.), the multi-eventer took third in the pentathlon during the indoor championship, before a fifth place heptathlon finish in outdoor.

Grace Breiten (3.66 GPA, Special Education, Jr.) earns indoor and outdoor honors. Breiten took sixth in the indoor mile and seventh in the 3,000-meter run during the indoor championship, as well as third place finish in the 3K steeple chase and second in the 5,000-meter run during the outdoor meet. 

Rochelle Etienne (3.63 GPA, Dietetics, So.) takes home scholar athlete honors after finishing fourth in the javelin at the outdoor championship.

Sidne' Williamson (3.21 GPA, Sport and Park Administration, Sr.) placed fourth in the long jump during both championships this season.

To earn Missouri Valley Conference scholar-athlete honors, a student-athlete must finish in the Top 8 of the conference championship or in the Top 3 or a relay event (indoor or outdoor meet) and carry a 3.2 cumulative grade point average. First-year transfers are not eligible and student-athletes must be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing.
