James Wins Triple Jump Title in Final Day of MVC Championship, Bears Finish Fifth

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Missouri State track and field team's final day at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship was highlighted by five All-Conference performances and an event title. The Bears finish the championship in fifth place with 75 team points.

Jamilah James completed the sweep of the indoor and outdoor triple jump titles. Posting a 12.39-meter attempt, becoming the seventh Bear to win the event and the first since 2014.

Smashing her 5,000-meter career best, Grace Breiten pulled ahead in the lead group early, earning second place in 16:40.96. Recording the fourth fastest 5K in school history and her second all-MVC finish on the weekend.

Recording two all-conference performances for the Bears, Taryn Smiley posted third place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Smiley ran an 11.64 personal best in the 100m before running a 24.27 200m around an hour later.

Chicago Bains blazed a third place 100-meter hurdle time of 13.99, earning all-conference accolades.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Smiley, Bains, Edna Dar and Kayla Fallis posted a season best 4:00.89 time to finish eighth in the race.

Also scoring points for the Bears; Sidne Williamson (long jump), James (long jump), Dar (1500m), Erica Wollmering (1500m), Namibia Clavier (400m and 200m), Timeka Jordan (100m) and Madeline Saville (800m).
