Breiten, Smiley Qualify for NCAA West Prelims

NCAA West Prelim Qualifiers Â
INDIAPOLIS, Ind. – Two Missouri State track and field student-athletes qualify for the 2019 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor West Preliminary May 23-25 in Sacramento, Calf., announced by the NCAA Thursday (May 16).

Grace Breiten qualifies in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Breiten set her qualifying time at the prestigious Drake Relays on April 24. The title winning 10:28.67 time is the third fastest 3K steeplechase in school history.
Taryn Smiley qualifies in the 100-meter dash with an 11.64 time set last weekend at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship. Smiley's personal best time was good enough for all-conference honors and a third place finish.
The 48-west preliminary site competitors will be cut down to the top-12 athletes from each individual event, which will advance to the NCAA Championship in Austin, Texas on June 5-8.
