Titles, Career Bests Highlight Final Day at John McDonnell Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Missouri State track and field team made strides in the completive field at the final day of the John McDonnell Invitational.

Olivia Ott completed her title run in the heptathlon, earning 4,630 total event points. Ott posted two first place finishes in the final day of competition, taking first in the long jump (5.33m), first in the javelin throw (34.14m) and second in the 800-meter run (2:31.40).

Jamilah James matched her triple jump season best of 12.46-meters, on her final attempt, to take the event title.

James also matched her career best in the long jump, finishing second with a 5.85m leap. Sidne' Williamson tagged on a fourth place finish at 5.59m.

Brittany McPike added a season best in the shot put, posting a 12.42m sixth place finish.

The Bears earned multiple personal bests in the 800-meter run, with Kayla Falls (2:14.74) and Madeline Saville (2:16.26) both running PRs, finishing ninth and 12th place respectively.

Namibia Clavier supported a career best in the 200-meter run, finishing in sixth place in 24.46. Taryn Smiley (24.79), Tomi Bamigbade (25.01), Timeka Jordan (25.18) and Chicago Bains (25.72) also competed for the Bears in the 200m.

Erica Wollmering posted a personal best 1,500-meter run to finish 11th in 4:34.59, while Edna Dar posted a season best 4:35.35 12th place finish.

Missouri State will head back to Columbia, Mo. for the Tom Botts Invitational next weekend (April 19-20) to continue the outdoor season.
