Day Two Meet Results
CEDER FALLS, Iowa – The Missouri State track and field team completed the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championship in sixth-place (60 points), with positive performances from all over the UNI Dome.
Championship Sunday was highlighted for the Bears by
Jamilah James in the triple jump. The Scarborough, Ontario Canada native launched herself 12.43-meters to take the event title on her second attempt.
Scoring six points during the final day,
Taryn Smiley posted top-eight finishes in the 60m and the 200m races. Smiley marked a fifth place 7.56 time in the 60m, before running a seventh place 25.20 200m.
Senior hurdler
Chicago Bains put up an 8.66 personal best in the 60m hurdles, coming in fourth.
In the 400-meter final, Namibia Claiver took fifth on a 56.64 pace.
In the first race of the day,
Grace Breiten and
Erica Wollmering represented the Bears in the mile run. Breiten finished in sixth with a 5:02.82 time, while Wollmering ended in tenth with a 5:10.87 race. Â
Breiten and Wollmering followed up a few hours later with performances in the 3,000-meter. Breiten took first in the section and seventh overall with a new career best 10:05.16 time. The junior kicked up the pace in the final lap to bring home the points for the Bears. Wollmering checked in 19
th with a 10:21.26 personal best race.
The 800-meter final saw a personal best by freshman
Edna Dar (2:14.59) who finished sixth, while
Madeline Saville took eighth with a 2:23.98 time.
Finishing out the meet, the Bears put together a 4x400-meter relay team of Clavier,
Amalie Gunn,
Sidne' Williamson and
Tomi Bamigbade to take sixth place in 4:00.48.
