Day One Meet Results
CEDER FALLS, Iowa – The Missouri State track and field team started off with a bang, day one of the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship, the Bears sit in fifth place as a team with 23 points.
Senior
Olivia Ott was the first Bear to step onto the conference meet podium, taking home third place in the indoor pentathlon, scoring a career best 3,477 points. The Neoga, Ill. native recorded PRs in the shot put (10.38m) and the 800-meter (2:28.49).
The Bears produced three of the top ten marks in the long jump.
Jamilah James earned second place with a 5.92-meter jump, good enough for a season best.
Sidne' Williamson checked in at fourth place with a 5.82-meter mark, while Ott posted 5.44m.
Missouri State qualified eight positions for the day two finals, led by
Taryn Smiley. Smiley qualified both in the 60-meter (7.53) and the 200-meter (25.21).
Chicago Bains ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8.70 to qualify in the event, while
Namibia Clavier qualified in the 400-meter (58.03).
In the distance events
Madeline Saville (2:15.98) and
Edna Dar (2:14.48) qualified in the 800-meter, while
Grace Breiten (5:04.86) and
Erica Wollmering (5:07.55) achieved the mark in the mile run.
Capping off day one action, Breiten,
Kayla Fallis, Dar and
Paityn Howat blazed a 12:20.52 time fifth place distance medley relay.
