MVC Release
ST. LOUIS – Getting it done in the classroom, in the community and on the track, junior Claire Schwarz is one of 10 honorees for the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award, announced Thursday by league Commissioner Doug Elgin.

A three-year member of the distance squad, Schwarz holds a 3.66 grade point average with a major in speech-language pathology. She is a two-time MVC Honor Roll recipient, made the Dean's List four out of the last five semesters and has made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Maroon & White Scholar Athlete all three years at Missouri State.

In the community, Schwarz has volunteered with multiple organizations during her time in Springfield, including Buddy Bears, Boy's & Girls Club, Friends Against Hunger, Midwest Seals, Habitat for Humanity, Communication Partners and SAAC.

On the track, the Bettendorf, Iowa, native has focused on the 800-meter run during track season, with a personal best 2:26.89 time set at the Arkansas Spring Invitational last season.

The MVC created the award in an effort to honor the achievements of exceptional student-athletes. In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition.  The Valley will recognize 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees.  Institutions select their State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award honorees.
