Track & Field Bears Head South For John McDonnell Invitational

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team will make the trip to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the John McDonnell Invitational  (April 13-14), hosted by the University of Arkansas. The two day meet will be held at John McDonnell Field, starting at 12:30 both Friday and Saturday.

Keeping Track of the Bears
  • Missouri State will compete at the John McDonnell Invitational sending a total of 29 student-athletes, competing in a projected 19 events.
  • The Bears will go up against three USFCCCA top-25 teams this weekend; Arkansas (No. 1), Ole Miss (No. 21) and Missouri (No. 23).
  • MSU is ranked 19th in the USFCCCA Midwest Region, third best Missouri Valley team in the region.
  • Daijha Heron holds the best triple jump (12.36m) in the MVC, recorded two weeks ago at the ORU Invitational. Heron is projected to compete in the triple and the long jump in Fayetteville.  
  • Isa Videler holds three top-10 conference marks, second in high jump (1.68m), third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.19) and ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.64). Videler will compete in these three events, as well as the long jump and the 4x400-meter and 4x100-meter relay this weekend.
  • Taking home event titles in the 1,500-meter and the 5,000-meter at the ORU Invitational, Jessica Allen holds the second fastest 5K in the MVC (17:18.81). Allen is scheduled to run the 1,500-meter and the 3,000-meter on Saturday.
  • Last time out the Bears competed at the ORU Invitational, where they saw 10 top-five finishes, including three event titles.
  • Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, is in his 22nd season at the helm at Missouri State.
