NCAA West Prelim Information
INDIANAPOLIS – Three Missouri State student-athletes will compete in four individual events at the 2017 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor West Preliminary Rounds May 25-27 in Austin, Texas, the NCAA announced Thursday (May 18).
Seniors
Shani Adams and
Holly Pattie-Belleli return to the preliminary round for the third-straight year, in the 400-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles, respectfully. Junior
Marissa Kurtimah repeats as a NCAA qualifier in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash for the Bears.
Adams will compete in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday, May 25 at 4:30 p.m. while Kurtimah will go in the 100-meter dash at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, May 26, Pattie-Belleli will compete in the first round of the 100-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m., while Kurtimah will race in the first round of the 200-meter dash at 7:30 p.m.
Adams is seeded 18
th with a time of 58.62 in the 400-meter hurdles, for which she collected a silver medal at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track Championships (May 14). It marked the second time this season she posted a time under one minute in the event.
Pattie-Belleli turned in her time of 13.62 in the 100-meter hurdles during the preliminary race of the MVC Championship. She enters the meet with the 45
th-best time. The Ongar, Essex, England native holds the Missouri State program record in the event, posting a time of 13.27 at the 2016 MVC Championship.
After defending her MVC Championship titles in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, Kurtimah became the only student-athlete to win two events at the league meet last weekend. The Guelph, Ontario, Canada native qualified in the 100-meter dash with her time of 11.55 from the Tom Botts Invitational (April 14) while her time of 23.57 from the MVC Championships qualified her for the 200-meter dash. Kurtimah currently sits in 42
nd in the 100-meter dash and 39
th in the 200-meter dash.
The 48 west preliminary site competitors will be whittled down, as the top 12 athletes from each individual event in the will qualify to the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Oregon, on June 7-10.
