SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State track and field team will close out the outdoor regular season a day early at the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence, Kan., on Friday (Apr. 28), due to expected inclement weather. Field events begin with the discus at 2 p.m. while the track events will start with 1,500-meter run at 5:45 p.m.
Keeping Track of the Bears:
-The Bears head to Lawrence for the first time in the outdoor season, but it will be the third time in the 2016-17 season will head to the Lawrence campus and first since the Jayhawk Classic on Jan. 27.
-The Rock Chalk Classic host KU will bring in squads from Oral Roberts and UMKC, along with the Bears.
-Missouri State will use the meet as a tune-up for the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship on May 11-13 in Wichita, Kan.

Olivia Ott and
Kelli Bowen are set to compete in five different individual events.
Marissa Kurtimah and
Holly Pattie-Belleli are scheduled to represent the Bears in four events, two individual and two relays.
-MSU heads into the weekend action with six different student-athletes among the top-7 in nine different events among Missouri Valley opponents. Kurtimah currently holds the top time in the 100-meter dash (11.55) and the third best time in the 200-meter dash (24.06) while
Shani Adams posted the top time in the 400-meter hurdles (59.92).
-Director of track and field and cross country,
Ronald Boyce, enters his 21st season at the helm in 2016-17. In his time at MSU, his indoor and outdoor track and field teams have claimed nine Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
