MSU Relay Team Punches Ticket to Eugene

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Missouri State's 4x100-meter relay squad will take a trip to Eugene, Ore. June 8-11 for the second time in three years after finishing 12th at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Round with a season-best time of 44.78 seconds.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Asha Cave, Shavonne Husbands, Marissa Kurtimah, and Holly Pattie-Belleli snuck into the No. 12 spot after finishing fourth in the first heat of the event. Husbands brings the most experience to the relay squad after taking a trip to the finals during her sophomore season in the event. The 4x100-meter relay team advanced to the final championships in 2014 with standouts Chelsey Borders, Pernell Joseph, Althia Maximilien, and Husbands.

The time clocked in by the relay squad today is the third-fastest time recorded in MSU school history.

For the second-consecutive year, Holly Pattie-Belleli competed in the 100-meter hurdles in the preliminary round, finishing 27th overall with a time of 13.58 seconds. MSU concluded running events with Kurtimah and Husbands competing in the 200-meter dash, finishing 22nd and 30th overall, respectively with times of 23.57 seconds and 23.84 seconds, respectively.

Robiann Broomfield wrapped up competition for the Bears at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the triple jump finishing 39th overall with a leap of 12.04 meters. The senior reached the preliminary round all four seasons as a Bear, earning a trip to Eugene during her sophomore season in 2014.
