WICHITA, Kan. -- Missouri State track & field sent six Bears to compete in Friday night's College Distance Carnival hosted by Wichita State. Missouri State entered five into the 1500m and one, freshman Jessica Allen, into the 5000m run.
Cindy Forde set a personal record in the 1500m, finishing in 22nd with a time of 5:00.40. Three Bears ran in their first outdoor collegiate 1500m with Savannah Beaver (4:53.73) finishing 14th, Megan Nickles (5:05.47) placing 28th, and Oliviah Sloan (5:17.30) in 44th. Tenaly Smith came in 37th with a time of 5:12.47.
In the 5000m run, Allen placed seventh in a full field of 31 competitors with her time of 18:31.13. This is the longest outdoor distance Allen has raced in her young collegiate career.
"Tonight didn't go like we had hoped," said coach Jordan Fife. "We know we are better than what we showed tonight and we are looking forward to proving that in the upcoming meets."
