Cross Claims Event Title, Bears Post Multiple PRs at Gorilla Classic

PITTSBURG, Kan. - Missouri State track and field continued to build momentum toward the final stretch of the indoor season with a productive two-day showing at the Gorilla Classic.
 
Shiloh Cross led the Bears with an event victory in the triple jump, recording a winning mark of 12.04 meters. Maggie Haase added a 21st-place finish in the event and also contributed in the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters to place sixth in the open section. In the high jump invite, Kayleigh Jenkins posted an eighth-place finish with a clearance of 1.68 meters, while Barrett Jackson recorded Missouri State's top mark in the long jump at 5.36 meters.
 
Mo State's sprint group delivered another strong showing, led by Olivia Rogers and Delaney Weimer in the 60-meter dash. Rogers posted the top prelim time at 7.56 and followed with a third-place finish in the final at 7.60. Weimer secured a runner-up finish in the final with a time of 7.59 after qualifying sixth in prelims. Sydney Ward, Jenkins and Shackera Douglas each placed inside the top 12 in prelims.
 
Rogers added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.55, while Weimer recorded a personal-best 24.62 to place eighth. Rakiya Lang and Shackera Douglas each posted personal-best times in the event, with Lang clocking 25.13 and Douglas finishing in 25.29. Jordyn Buckley led the Bears in the 400-meter open with a 12th-place finish, while Whitney Farrington finished seventh in the invite section with a run of 56.21.
 
Cheria Galbreath clocked a personal-best 9.06 in the 60-meter hurdle prelims. Missouri State's distance group followed with another strong outing, led by Ella Cronhardt, who placed fifth in the 800 meters in 2:11.66 and third in the mile at 4:53.97. BreAna Garrett posted a personal-best 2:14.97 in the 800 meters, while Raegan Schnurbusch also recorded a personal best in the event.

Missouri State carried that momentum into the longer distance events. Lena Singleton turned in a personal-best 17:34.72 to place third in the 5,000 meters, while Madilyn Moore added an eighth-place finish. In the 3,000 meters, Ella Rew paced the Bears with a personal-best 10:09.55, followed by Emily Nuttall, Mary Margaret Harris and Adrien Martens.
 
Missouri State closed the meet with a pair of strong relay performances. The distance medley relay team of Ella Cronhardt, Claire Farrell, Abby Meyer and Mary Margaret Harris placed fourth with a time of 11:52.93. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Farrell, Whitney Farrington, Raegan Foster and BreAna Garrett followed with a sixth-place finish in 3:45.90, while a second Bears quartet placed 11th overall.
Missouri State will compete Friday, Feb. 20 at the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, with events beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The meet marks the Bears' final tune-up before the Conference USA Indoor Championships.
