DES MOINES, Iowa - The Missouri State track & field team closed the 105th Drake Relays on Saturday, competing in the finals of the triple jump competition at Drake Stadium.

Sophomore Robiann Broomfield placed eighth overall out of 30 entrants with a best mark of 12.28 meters (40 feet, 3.5 inches) to finish 11 centimeters in back of Dior Delophont of Kent State for seventh. Broomfield's top effort came on her second of six jumps in the event.

Senior Gemma Smith was the Bears' only other competitor in the event. She placed 16th overall with a top leap of 11.77 meters (38 feet, 7.5 inches), which came on her first attempt of the day.

Missouri State returns to action Saturday in Starkville, Miss., for Mississippi State's Jace LaCoste Invitational.
