SPRINGFIELD - Former Missouri State track and field athlete Katelynn Geier was selected as a recipient of the 2012-2013 Andrew J. McDonald Achievement Award. The Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department faculty annually recognizes the top graduating senior athletics participants majoring in health and physical education.
A native of St. Louis, Geier was a member of MSU's track and field team from 2010-2012. She graduated from Missouri State in December 2012 with a 3.59 GPA. Geier earned a bachelor's degree in physical education, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in health promotion and wellness management. In addition, she has been awarded a graduate assistantship in the Department of Kinesiology for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The other recipient of the 2013 award is Michael Runnels from Springfield, Mo., who graduated last week with a 3.57 GPA and a bachelor's degree in physical education. Runnels was a member of the Physical Education Majors Club and was involved in coaching in the Springfield community. His future plans include teaching physical education and coaching at the high school level.
