CBI Preseason All-America Teams
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State second baseman Kevin Medrano picked up another honor Monday, as CollegeBaseballInsider.com tabbed the senior an honorable mention preseason All-American. This marks the second straight year the Lee's Summit, Mo., product has picked up preseason All-America honors for the Bears, who kick-off the 2012 season with a pair of games Friday (Feb. 17) in Lubbock, Texas.
A first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection each of his first three years at Missouri State, Medrano has the chance to become the first player in the 66-year history of MVC play to receive that honor in four straight seasons. Last year, he batted .325 with 13 stolen bases after ranking second in the Valley in 2010 with a .410 batting average to go with four homers and 29 RBIs. He enters his final collegiate season already in the sixth position on the Bears' all-time assists (409) list and just nine hits (229) shy of cracking MSU's top 10 list for career hits.
Missouri State opens the campaign and a four-game weekend Friday with contests against Tennessee Tech (Noon) and Texas Tech (4 p.m.) at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
