Track and Field Bears Continue Success at the Salukis Open

The Missouri State track and field squad concluded their competition Saturday evening at the Salukis Open in Carbondale, Ill.

"We had a pretty good meet", said director of track and field and cross country Ron Boyce, "We achieved some big things."

Freshman Althia Maximilien continued her success this season, taking home first in the 400-meter dash (56.40) and third in the 200-meter dash (25.28). Nicole Thate finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.93.

The Bears distance group shined in its debut meet of the season. Erin Edwards finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a personal best time of 10:07.16. Terry Phillips followed close behind in third with a time of 10:14.46.

Missouri State will head to Bloomington, Ind. for the Indiana University Relays on Jan. 27-28. Results will be made available on MissouriStateBears.com following the completion of the meet.
