Two Missouri State golfers recently qualified for the United States Amateur Championship to be held Aug. 23-29 in suburban Seattle, Wash. Juniors-to-be Will Hogan and Jordan McLaurin qualified at different sites on July 26 and will be part of a 156-player field to tee it up at the acclaimed Chambers Bay Golf Club.
Hogan qualified at Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City, Mo., where he shot 68-69--137, while McLaurin carded 72-69--141 at Piper Glen Golf Club in Springfield, Ill.
The low 64 players after two days of stroke play at Chambers Bay and the neighboring Home Course, Aug. 23-24, will advance to match play beginning Aug. 25 at Chambers Bay, which will play to a par of 71 and a monstrous 7,742 yards.
Hogan earned all-Missouri Valley Conference and Newcomer of the Year honors last season after transferring from Missouri, while McLaurin was the league's top newcomer the previous season as a freshman.
