Bear Golfers Place Seventh at Turtle Point

KILLEN, Ala. -- The Missouri State men's golf team finished seventh Tuesday (Oct. 14) at the Turtle Point Invitational at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club. The Bears entered the day tied for fourth, but slipped in the standings after a final-round 313 to give them 895 for the tournament.

Host North Alabama cruised to the team championship with 842, well ahead of Southeastern Louisiana's 862. Samford finished third with 870, followed by North Alabama "B" (873), and Evansville and New Orleans (881) tied for fifth in the 11-team field.

Junior Owen Swearingen paced the Bears in a tie for 28th after notching 73-74-73--220. Seniors Christian Rischer and Tim Holmberg were next for MoState in a tie for 49th with 225 totals; Rischer shot 76-70-79 and Holmberg 74-69-82. Sophomores Andrew Fallis and Jonathan Jordan each posted 233 to tie for 63rd, Fallis carding 74-73-86 and Jordan 75-79-79.

The Bears are idle next week before wrapping up the fall season by hosting the Missouri State Intercollegiate, Oct. 27-28.
