Naugle Leads Bears on Day One at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. -- Freshman Noah Naugle paced the Missouri State men's golf team Monday (Apr. 13) in the first 36 holes of the Arkansas State Spring Invitational at RidgePointe Country Club.

Naugle is tied for 28th in the field after shooting 77-73--150 on the tournament's first day, while senior Christian Rischer is close behind for the Bears in a tie for 40th after carding 79-73--152. Sophomore Jonathan Jordan is another shot back in 45th place with 76-77--153, and junior Owen Swearingen is right behind in 51st after posting 78-76--154. Sophomore Andrew Fallis shot 77-78--155 while playing as an individual and junior Max Bowman had 83-78--161.

The Bears are 11th in the team standings after turning in 310-301--611. Host Arkansas State has built up a sizable lead in the team race, posting 556 for the first two rounds, 17 better than Houston Christian. Bradley is third with Southeastern Louisiana, Omaha and New Orleans in a three-way tie for fourth in the 11-team field.

Final round play is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 7:45 a.m.
